The Town Justice Court is usually the first and only Court that most individuals encounter. In most cases, the Town Justices are responsible for arraigning the defendants regardless of the severity of the crime. The Town Justices preside over a variety of cases including but not limited to the following:
- Vehicle and Traffic
- Criminal
- Environmental Conservation
- Town Ordinances
- Agriculture and Markets Laws
- Evictions
- Small Claims
- Other Civil Matters
In addition to their responsibilities on the bench, Town Justices also perform wedding ceremonies. To request wedding arrangements please contact the Court office for a referral.
